About the Highland Golf Club
The Highland Golf Club was founded in 1930. It is one of Delta County's oldest golf courses. Originally a nine hole course for 38 years, it was expanded to 18 holes in 1968 and was Delta County's first 18 hole course.
The Highland Golf Club is fairly "open" venue with wide fairways and plenty of room for the beginning golfer. However, strategically placed bunkers and trees over the past several years have created a challenge even for the low handicapper.
The Highland Golf Club is open to the public, and has been known to carry the label, "the friendliest course around". We are 7 miles west of Escanaba on US 2 or 4 miles east of the Chip In Casino.
Highland Golf Club is proud to announce John Yavorski as the new manager. John and his wife, Sheryl moved here in 2007 from Youngstown, OH after selling their family owned golf course of 47 years. Sheryl (Tebear), owner of Gram's Pasties was born in Escanaba and this prompted their move back to the area.
You may remember John as the owner of U.P. Golf Car which was opened in 2008 and closed in 2012. John was a member of the Superintendents Association for 8 years and a founding member of the Ohio Golf Course Owners Association for 2 years. After John's grandparents and then parents retired, he successfully operated the golf course for 20 years until the sale.
John is very excited to meet and be able to work with all the members of the course. He looks forward to sharing his experience and new ideas. His main goal is to insure that everyone has a happy and outstanding golf season at Highland Golf Club this ye
